Dementia Care / Alzheimer's Care Community
Dogwood Forest communities offer a specialized program called Inspirations that is designed to meet the unique needs of individuals afflicted with Alzheimer’s Disease or other memory impairment conditions. The program is housed in an independent section of each community that we call our Inspirations Neighborhood.

Insipirations residents live life to their highest potential, regardless of dementia stage, by living in our stress-free environments and utilizing our clinically proven non-drug therapies.
Dogwood Forest takes a comprehensive approach to
memory care that focuses on Inspiring the Mind, Body and Spirit.
Activities, sounds, scents, and innovative neighborhood surroundings
stimulate the senses for memory recall. A wellness director, dedicated
to the Inspirations Neighborhood, leads health initiatives.
Dignity and independence are preserved with the assistance of specialized staff.

What truly makes Inspirations special, however, is the
company’s extensive investment in memory impairment education
that covers the disease process, communication tools and caring
for residents with mental, physical and emotional needs. Each Dogwood
Forest associate, including management, is required to complete
the acclaimed S.E.L.F. Advanced Training for Alzheimer’s,
Dementia and other memory impairment diseases. This program provides
an additional 20 hours of training, above the basics, that not only
educates and trains staff on the disease process; it also accentuates
Person Centered Care and Relationship disciplines.
S – Stimulate to the highest level of participation
E – Encourage success and fun in everything they do
L – Learn from them and honor them as themselves
F – Foster positive relationships
Dogwood Forest is also proud to sponsor Virtual Dementia Tours from the non-profit Second Wind Dreams. This program gives individuals an eye opening opportunity to experience aging and dementia first hand and gain an understanding of the cognitive and physical limitations that these residents face on a daily basis.
Certified training programs from the Alzheimer’s Association and up-to-date research are a sampling of the other tools we utilize for staff education and training.
Families
are an integral part of the Inspirations program and are
encouraged to visit often. Regular updates keep them informed on
the progress of their loved one.
Alzheimer’s and Dementia are difficult disease, but our Inspirations program has proven time and time again that this doesn’t have
to be the end of a wonderful and meaningful quality of life. We
are very proud of our state-of-the-art Inspirations Neighborhood program and have witnessed the positive changes that it has made
in the lives of residents.
Dogwood Forest. Because a better living environment leads to a better life.
